Daily Shlokas for children

If you are living far away from your culture, then the children at home will only learn and imbibe whatever the parents provide at home. So the primary responsibility for our children are the parents.  Parents are the first friend to a child – so play with them everyday, read books, sing along, leave your Laptops/Phones/Tablets and spend time with them. When time permits, teach them some good values in life.

Following Shlokas can be practiced by parents along with their children to inculcate some culture in them. These Shlokas/songs provide a minimal guideline.

Start the daily prayer with a prayer to Lord Ganesha (Ganesha Stuthi) to remove any hurdles

Gajaananam Bhuuta Gannaadi Sevitam
Kapittha Jambuu Phala Saara Bhakshitham
Umaa Sutam Shoka Vinaasha Kaarannam
Namaami Vighneshvara Paada Pangkajam

A song that can be sung to Lord Ganesha can be in Raga Nata

Raga Nata Thala Jambha

Mooshika vahana modhaka hastha,
Chamarakarna , vilambitha suthra,
Vamana roopa , Maheswara puthra,
Vigna vinayaka Pada namasthe.

The Above can be followed by a Guru Vandanam (Prayer to Gurus)

Gurur Brahma Gurur Vishnu
Gurur Devo Mahesh Varah
Guru Shakshat Para Brahma
Tasmai Shri Guruve Namah

This can be followed by a Simple Shloka for Lord Krishna

Vasudeva Sutam Devam | Kansa Chaanuuramardanam | Devakii Paramaanandam | Krishhnam Vande Jagad Gurum

This can be followed by a shloka for the Goddess of Learning – Saraswathi

Saraswati namastubhyam varade kamarupini |
vidyarambham karishyami, siddhirbhavatu me sada ||

A simple shloka while the children have a shower or Bath

GangaCha Yamune Cha Iva Godaavarii Sarasvathi |
Narmadaa Sindhu Kaaverii Jale Asmin Samnidhim Kuru ||

(Meaning – Let the divine Waters of the above Rivers be present near me.)

Finally a shloka on Lord Rama
